Last Two Weeks Recap: Shooting an Ad & Hosting a Brunch Cocktails Party
An in-depth look at my last two weeks as a freelancer and friend living in New York.
It has been a complete whirlwind. Let’s catch up. Last week, I visited Coney Island for the first time:
Meet me at the beach…BTS featuring Uniqlo AIRism tee, the most comfortable biker shorts I have ever worn and camisole dress.
That day I teamed up with Colorway Productions to shoot a spec ad, or a video intended to showcase a filmmaker’s skills and style. We worked our way around the historic area, cameras and all, before taking a pause before shooting the final scene in front of fireworks, which were set to go on around 10:00 p.m.
Is it me, or are amusement parks way better once the "spooky carnival" energy takes over? It’s as if the backdrop of the night sky makes the design of the park come to life:
We awaited Luna Park’s Friday fireworks.
Between shots, members of the team killed time by dangling from deathly heights:
Finally, after getting our fireworks shot and just before midnight, we made our way home. That night, I slept like a log:

The next day was spent mostly in relaxation and sweet solitude before another busy day:
Leaving; Out; Back. In a Nike hoodie and shorts plus Tod’s sneakers (similar ones) and Ferragamo bag. The painting credit reads: Ric Pliego: Cuesta Abajo 2002 acrylic on canvas 24” x 18”

On Sunday, I hosted a little brunch & cocktails potluck as an early birthday celebration:
I have literally lost sleep over these deviled eggs since this day. I think I wept a little when I tried them they were so delicious.
One by one, we built out our spread of food and drinks:
Precious moments on the terrace. Shoutout to real friends!
Hands down, the biggest hits were the deviled eggs and Hugo spritz. We also enjoyed a Bombay Sapphire sparkling lemon cocktail that I 1000% made again the next day. I lived on bacon and pastries for the next couple days, too. Zero complaints.

Back to our original programming, I was thrilled to style the linen button-down shirt and crinkle cotton camisole dress for everyday wear after we were done using them for the video shoot:
Up top, in Uniqlo’s linen button-down shirt and easy cargo pants and a thrifted camisole, Oofos sandals and Able hoop earrings. Below, same shirt and hoops with a camisole dress, Rothy’s flats, Ferragamo crossbody bag and my WSJ baseball cap and Yeti in hand.
THE simple summer-style life hack: light fabrics and loose-fitting clothing. Who would have thought? It may sound super obvious, but cultivating a solid supply of clothing that allows you to tolerate the harsh weather and feel confident is no small feat. I hasn’t been for me, at least. So if you’re on that journey too, I truly commend you!
~
With that, thank you so much for being here. I will see you next week. Until then, I gently encourage you to wear some light fabrics and loose-fitting clothing if you aren’t already. Pretty life-changing!
Yours Truly,
Kyoko
