Dressing for Your Spring Trip: Style With Comfort Included
Whether you’re having a staycation, weekend trip or long voyage, Lingua Franca’s resort 2024 collection will dress you right.
“Fashion knows not of comfort.” Whenever I slip on a stiff new pair of leather shoes or see a video of Dua Lipa struggling to sit in a cinched-to-perfection dress, this Gossip Girl quote comes to mind.
It’s a bit dumb though, isn’t it? Since when was being uncomfortable in our clothes considered a badge of honor? As we continue to make our way out of the pandemic era, I fear this idea may be coming back. Fortunately, when it comes to travel and vacation apparel, “fashion” knows comfort.
I am headed to Japan in a couple weeks, which got me thinking about Lingua Franca’s resort 2024 collection. Let me break it down.
Resort collections (also called pre-spring, cruise, holiday) typically come after fall/winter items go on sale and before spring/summer looks can be shopped. As the name suggests, these roundups are filled with pieces you’d wear on vacation (free and easy fabrics, statement outerwear, etc.) while also being relatively season-less.
As I prepare for my upcoming trip I’m letting Lingua Francs’s resort 2024 collection inspire my packing list.
Here are my must-haves for pre-spring travel:
Sweatshirts & Knits
Lingua Franca is a New York-based brand founded by Rachelle Hruska MacPherson. The brand’s “Give a Damn” motto can be seen stitched into some of their pieces, and their passion for building a community who cares is evident through both their clothing and social media presence.
You can create your own customized pieces on their website here. As you can see, I customized my sweatshirt to say “break up with him.”
A pictorial sweater paired with a multi-color and multi-pattern cardigan. Thicker knit material and vibrant colors wake up a combination that can often end up looking tired.
Bright Tights
You can only pack so many knits and sweatshirts before your suitcase gets too stuffed, right? For something less bulky but just as cozy, pack some tights in a bright, electric color like the ones below.
Look 20. Cardigan here. There are no tights on Lingua Franca’s site, but there’s always Falke.
Pajama Dress
So many night gowns are too pretty to only wear to bed, and pajamas that double as day clothes can make a look stand out while maintaining its pleasant feel.
Moreover, when I am traveling and eating new food every day it’s nice to have a billowy dress that is elegant without being restrictive. You know, in case I round out a little on vacation, haha.

Monochrome-ish
Sweats, pajamas and travel pants become instantly more stylish when the full look is slightly monochrome. Lingua Franca accomplishes this while creating texture and personality, below.
Look 18 and 25. Top cardigan and bottom cardigan! Similar bottoms here.
Being stylish doesn’t mean you always have to look “expensive.” Sometimes dressing a little under the radar is fun and even feels a little subversive. A cardigan can make a leisurely outfit more complete without drawing too much attention.
Last autumn I spent very little time going places other than the post office, Rite Aid and Lincoln Market, so I layered cardigans over PJ’s quite a bit. Homebody vibe notwithstanding, the extra layer always made me feel cute. I bet it’d be cute on you, too.

With that, thank you so much for being here! I am so excited to blog about my upcoming Japan trip. There will be lots of fun, travel-friendly apparel suggestions and pictures.
Until then, wear something that makes you feel good.
Yours Truly,
Kyoko
I am not compensated for the features listed in AYS. My sincerest thank you to Lingua Franca for participating in the creation of this post.
