Japan Trip Recap: What I Wore on Spring Vacation

A swift and stylish rundown of what I wore in Tokyo last week.

Take me baaaack. Tory Burch sweater vest and pants, Scanlan Theodore turtleneck, Kapital jacket, Tod’s loafers and Tumi backpack. My dad took this photo.

I spent last week in Tokyo, Japan getting connected to my roots, aiming to feel comfortable while not looking too much like a tourist. Among my key considerations when packing were wearability, style and suitcase space. Easy enough, right?

Well, after writing about what to pack for your spring trip, I wanted to give you a quick recap of what I actually ended up wearing on vacation for occasions like attending art galleries, grabbing coffee or visiting the hot springs.

Going Out/Social Events:

Maybe my favorite look from the trip. I wore this to a friend’s DJ set. Scanlan Theodore tank top and 100% cashmere scarf, American Vintage vest, Uniqlo wool-blend skirt, Wolford tights and Rothy’s flats, plus the Kapital jacket, of course. My brother took the last photo! :)

In a Topshop turtleneck, REI Co-op convertible pants, Tod’s sneakers (these are similar) and the Kaptial jacket. Adding the jacket gave my outfits a Tokyo-style edge to them. I also added funky earrings to complete this look.

Art Galleries:

From ‘Thinking About Monet’ by Daniel Brush. Wilfred coat, LouLou Studio blazer, T-shirt from Corner Printing (where the DJ set was!), Lululemon pants, Uniqlo mid-calf socks and Tod’s sneakers (these are similar) and Scanlan Theodore scarf. My brother took the first and last shots!

From the Shuichi Uehara and Tadao Ando exhibition at the Tokyo Art Museum. The loafers weren’t ideal walking shoes, which is worth considering when getting dressed for something like attending an exhibition.

Loungewear:

PJ shirt is Donna Karan, Free People night gown and Oofos sandals (my house shoes). My cousins convinced me to go out one more time that night, so instead of changing I threw on my Kapital jacket and put on my Rothy’s flats and some delicate lace ankle-socks, gifted to me by my grandma.

Above was the loungewear we received at Pearl Star Hotel in Atami. The wooden clogs were my favorite.

Coffeehouse:

Precious Coffee Moments is where we had coffee most mornings. Wearing my LouLou Studio no-lapel blazer and Corner Printing T-shirt in this photo with my dad (my uncle took the top photo). I’d usually pair these with Lululemon or REI Co-op pants and a pair of sneakers.

Before we wrap up this post, here are a few beautiful moments I captured in Japan:

Up top, our view in Atami. My cousins and brother checking it out. The last photo is of Tokyo Station. Fun fact: My great-great-grandfather Gotō Shinpei played a role in this station’s creation!

Last moments in Tokyo. I snapped the final shot of my travel outfit just before boarding my flight home.

Travel Outfit:

13 hours later…I’m back in New York! LouLou Studio blazer, Corner Printing T-shirt, REI Co-op convertible pants, Tod’s sneakers (similar ones) and Burberry sunglasses (similar ones here).

With that, thank you so much for being here! We are back to our original programming here at All-Year Season, and I am very excited to be back with longer posts in the coming weeks. Until then…

Yours Truly,

Kyoko
